Virgin Records Signs Miami Duo "City Girls"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA, Aug. 13. 2020 --- Girl groups are special and rare. When things work out, it is beautiful. However, when things go wrong it can be all bad. Virgin Records have ended their search for the next big thing in rap music. The City Girls are a duo comprised of J.T. and Yung Miami, who met eight years ago in Miami, Florida. The ladies rise has been relatively quick, but when it is hot it is undeniable. The mentioned group have gone viral on social media platforms with explosive raps about feminine empowerment for months now, which especially caught Virgin's attention.
The City Girls have reached another milestone in their short careers, as they recently celebrated signing the mentioned big deal with Virgin Records. Jonny Braun of Virgin Records posted this caption with a video of the girls signing the contracts in the legendary Virgin Records skyscraper building in downtown Los Angeles, California,
“I Never Announce Typical Deals But I Wanted To Show This One Off Cause Now They Got More Money Than The People Who Hate On Them @citygirls #ChaseYourDreams @VirginRecords”.
New music from the fresh signees is on it's way sooner than most expect.

FLORENCE ON GOING NUMBER ONE
It’s so weird to me. Like I, Florence, not only have a multi week number one in the United Kingdom, but I also have a number one in the United States of all places. I am so happy that the audience has taken so well to the music. That is literally all that I ask for. For my music is travel the world on penetrate people’s ears and have people think about it. The feeling is literally indescribable. I just want to say a huge thank you to the listeners and an even bigger I love you!
FLORENCE ON WHAT IS NEXT
By the time this magazine is out, Ill actually be on my way to Germany to start the promotion of the song Only If For A Night. But I can assure you that the next single will be out before the end of the month. I cannot wait for you all to hear it. It is a more upbeat song than Only If For A Night, but we will still be dancing to both songs haha. There is also an album in the works and that is projected to be out around October. There’s also a lot of surprised for the fans leading up to it, so I can’t wait! That’s for sure!
FLORENCE ON FASHION
Fashion means a lot to me! I mean, look at the way I dress haha. Its not that I want to be different, I just think that the way I think and see the word can be unconventional. So when fashion is discussed, I do tend to branch out and be the outlier. I mean, I personally don’t feel like I need to pound my face in makeup and I rarely even use makeup. I think my fashion is something that is unique to me and very identifiable.

FLORENCE PERFORMING ONLY IF FOR A NIGHT
As the music starts, the stage shows a single spotlight. Under that spotlight is Florence herself. She starts with the first verse and her arms are extended in a beautiful fashion. When the pre-chorus begins, she leaps in the air and the crowd starts cheering. When the chorus begins and the first “Only If For A Night” is sung, the crowd also yells it out. Florence is obviously taken by surprise by this and feeds off of the energy of the audience. When the second verse starts, Florence is singing with a lot of compassion but in a sensual way. The pre-chorus begins and the lights cut off until the actual chorus starts. The crowd then sings “Only If For A Night” with Florence again and she is convicted to go down to the audience and sing and dance with them. By the time the last chorus comes up, Florence is back on the stage dancing. The music ends and the host remind everyone to buy and stream Florence’s hit song, Only If For A Night.

Her for at reklamere for hendes hit single, Only If For A Night, Alle, dets Florence!
FLORENCE ON DAS SUPERSTAR
That show was so much fun. I had not come to Europe to promote the song yet, but I knew that it was doing well here, which came to me as a surprise. But I did not expect everyone to sing along and dance with me. And when the crowd yelled out “Only If For A Night” that first time. When I tell you that was probably the most shocked I have ever been on state, that is a fact! Haha. But I loved it, and they did too. I can’t wait to go back!
FLORENCE ON THE DUA LIPA REMIX
That remix was so much fun to do. Dua really knew what she was doing when we sent her the track to sing over. She is kind of the queen of the club scene, and that type of music, which I absolutely adore. So when I got the cut back, my jaw was on the floor. I was like “Wow, I didn’t know this song could do that but I am so happy that it did” and a lot of that thanks has to go to Dua Lipa.
FLORNENCE ON ONLY IF FOR A NIGHT
You know, the song came to me as a dream. And the music video actually tells the story accurately. The music video took more than a week to shoot and then when it was done, they had to edit it to perfection. It was a lot but I loved the way it turned out.
Host: Tak så meget, Florence. Det er al den tid, vi har i dag. Glem ikke at købe og streame Florence’s førende single "Only If For A Night" ud overalt nu.

Host: Willkommen zurück, unser nächster Gast ist jemand, den wir alle vor zwei Nächten gern gesehen haben. Sie brachte das Haus buchstäblich mit ihrer Hit-Single "Only If For A Night" zum Einsturz. Und hier, um heute mit uns auf Energy 104.2 zu chatten, hier ist das großartige Florenz!
FLORENCE ON DAS SUPERSTAR
That show was so much fun! To know that the audience loved it but also the people watching at home loved it as well, that really does make my heart melt! Thank you so much guys. Like, I am about to start crying because at first my label was sort of against coming to Europe and not because they didn’t want to, it was more of a cost thing. But we finally said, we should and we did and it has been such an amazing experience so far. And I know it will continue to be.
FLORNECE ON ONLY IF FOR A NIGHT
The song started as a dream. The thing that was so weird about the dream was that my grandmother was there. But the thing is that I had never met her a day in my life, you see, she died before I was born. But in the dream, I could see her, touch her, talk to her, she talked back, I ever smelled her. Everything was so real; I could not believe how real everything was… and it was only a dream. So when we needed to make a music video for the song, it was kind of obvious as to how the music video would go. We wanted it to be very similar to the dream that I had. So Vincent Haycock took on the mission and we did it together. I just really love how the entire thing came out. I was crying for days haha.

Host: Welcome back everyone, our next guest is someone we all know and love. Here in Austria, please help me welcome Florence!
FLORENCE ON ONLY IF FOR A NIGHT
The song actually came from a dream. The subject of the dream isn’t the most bizarre thing but I think the reason why I think it was so important was because of who was in my dream. In my dream it is my grandmother who is there but the bizarre thing is that I have never met her in real life. You see, she passed away before I was born and never got to see or talk to her. I mean, yes, I have seen pictures of her and have heard stories but that is it when it comes to knowing her. So when I saw her in my dreams, I was so surprised. You can imagine as soon as I woke up I had to go to my journal and jot some stuff down. Which became the song.
FLORENCE ON HER WRITING STYLE
I do not think that my writing style is anything super spectacular. Its simply just when I see something or notice something that is worthy to be written down, I will do so. If it really speaks to me, I may make it into a song or something. That has happened quite a few times. And then I will have a verse, a chorus, a second verse, and a bridge and woah, I have an entire song haha. Its really amazing how that all works out but it does and they do become some great songs if I do say so myself haha.
Host: Thank you so much Florence. When we get back, Florence performs her hit single, Only If For A Night! You do not want to miss out on that!
FLORENCE PERFORMS ONLY IF FOR A NIGHT
As the camera pans over Florence, her band can be seen in the background. When the music starts, the camera then goes back to center on Florence. She is in a light blue airy dress. As she is singing, her eyes are closed and she is moving her hands methodically. When the chorus begins, Florence begins to dance and ruffles her dress as she is dancing. When the bridge comes, Florence does a series of dance moves and leaps in the air. When this happens, the audience is cheering on her. When the song ends, Florence is back in the middle of the stage and gives a bow.

Host: Welcome back everyone, our next guest is from overseas but she stops by to have a chat with us. Hailing all the way from the United Kingdom but having a top ten hit song in the United Kingdom, the United States, Latin America, South Korea, and here in Europe. Please welcome, Florence!
FLORENCE ON HER BAND
You know, they really do not get all the credit they deserve and sometimes I feel like that is my fault. I literally could not do what I do if they were not at my back playing as beautifully as they do. I am so glad that they travel with me promoting my music. They are even in the studio recording most of the songs. We at one point wanted to incorporate the band into the stage name. It would have been something like, Florence and the Machine, but they did not want to be highlighted in that way, so we just decided to go with Florence. They really are amazing people!
FLORENCE ON OTHER MUSIC
I truthfully do not have all the time in the world to listen to a lot of music so honestly, right now if you asked me about someone’s song, I would only know it if I really really do enjoy their music. I think that Don’t Start Now is an amazing song and I kid you not, I probably listen to that song once every day because of how infectiously amazing that song is. The hook alone just makes me want to dance barefoot around my room. And she really is like the nicest person ever. I love her!
Host: Well thank you so much for that Florence. Everyone, don’t forget to buy Only if For A Night on iTunes and stream it on Flux streaming service. Thank you and goodbye!

FLORENCE PERFORMING ONLY IF FOR A NIGHT
As the song starts, a single spotlight is shone onto Florence, she is on her knees looking to the sky. As she finished up the first verse, she gets onto her feet and starts dancing while singing the pre-chorus and later goes to the chorus where she leaps and dances across the stage. When the last “Only If For A Night” occurs during the chorus, Florence pauses in a pose. Then when the second verse begins, she continues to move about the stage. As she is walking around the stage and working the audience that audience is cheering and singing along with her. When the bridge comes, Florence puts the mic on the stand and then does a series of explosive dance moves. Leaping into the air as her dress and hair scatter around her. When the last chorus comes, Florence is singing with a lot of passion standing in place while singing. At the end, the audience and judges give Florence a standing ovation.

FLORENCE ON HERSELF
I think I just love anything that is sort of an odd ball. I don’t know why; I have just always been like that. I mean, I don’t necessarily consider myself as an odd ball, but I mean, when you hear some of the stuff that is on the radio or streaming platforms and then hear my music, it is very different. I think that there is a huge contrast and I like that there is a huge contrast. I think it makes me different and it helps me stick out. I don’t think that a lot of music should be a one size fits all type mentality. So, when Only If For A Night did as well as it did, I was so surprised because I made it for myself.
FLORENCE ON HER BAND
Everyone on the band is so talented. They agreed to follow me, literally around the world playing music and you have no idea how grateful I am for that. They really are an amazing band and do everything so well. I wish that shows would give me enough time to play my song and introduce the band, but whenever I get the chance to shout them out, I definitely do so. I think it is needed and very much deserved. That’s for sure!
FLORENCE ON WHAT IS NEXT
There really is a lot that is about to happen in the next couple of months. I have a few features that I get the privilege of being on. The second single is coming up very soon and I think that a lot of people are going to equally like it and say… “Woah, so there is more to Florence” haha. It isn’t the same as Only If For A Night but definitely you will be able to tell this is a Florence song.

- open me bitch!:
- On "Nonstop"
It is my latest single, the first song I have dropped since my album "Views" came out in 2015. It really is just one of those you blast while in the car, the type of song you scream the lyrics to while you are with your friends. I chose it as the first single I am coming back with because I think it perfectly represents where my career and my personal life are. Anyways, I feel like I am rambling too much! The song is out now everywhere for streaming and purchasing. I am overwhelmed with how much support it is getting and very grateful to have had such a positive response to it.
On the "Nonstop" music video
It is a simple video, no doubt about it, but I really wanted to keep it like that. I did not want a music video that would overshadow the song. I know the song is already pretty simple as it is so I wanted something that would complement it, while at the same time giving it a visual side to it that I have always envisioned but maybe other people did not. Overall it was a really fun video to shoot and if you want to check it out for yourself, it is up now on YouTube!
On partnering with NIKE
It is mind blowing to me. NIKE is one of the biggest brands in the planet so to be their new face has been and still feels surreal.

- open me bitch!:
- On his latest hit "Nonstop"
I want to say thank you to everyone who has bought or streamed the song so far, it does mean a lot to me and I never take commercial success for granted so yeah, thanks to everybody who has been supporting this single. "Nonstop" is one of my most special singles, at least to me, it really does feel like a huge new chapter in my career and I think no other song could have embodied it better than "Nonstop". I am really glad that we chose it to be the introductory song to my newest era because, like I said, I think it embodies where my career and personal life are at the moment and the sound my music is going towards.
On possible collaborations coming up
As always I can not really share much. But you never know! I might have a few surprises coming soon. Real soon, actually, sooner than you expect. All I can say is there is a lot of music that I can not wait to put out, and of course, some of that includes collaborations.
On his album
I can not wait for that either. It has been ready for release for a bit now, and while there is still a bit of time until it comes out, it is going to see the light very very soon. I know my fans are very excited for it and so am I, but as always, I like to not rush things and feel like I want to release a few other things prior to the record.

After being introduced by Jimmy, who highlighted the success of the song and asked the audience to give it up for Drake, which they did, the camera cut to the stage. The stage lit up in red colors as soon as the beat to "Nonstop" started playing. Then, Drake made his way to the stage from the side, wearing a black NIKE tracksuit and a pair of white NIKE sneakers. He started spitting the bars while staring at the camera, looking particularly serious and defiant. As the song progressed, he did not pay as much attention to the camera and instead engaged with the audience, while also moving around the stage and doing a few dance moves here and there. When the performance ended, Drake hugged Jimmy, who complimented his performance, thanked him for being there and reminded everyone that "Nonstop" is out now everywhere for streaming and purchase.

- On "Nonstop" blowing up since his last visit to the show
It has been a minute and the song has actually been growing and growing which makes me really happy and very thankful. I do not take it for granted and I am happy everyone is enjoying the song as much as I am. Although charts are not the driving force of my music and my career, I would be lying if I said I do not enjoy seeing myself up there with the biggest artists right now. I am happy to be back on the show and to be performing the song for you tonight! Last time around I did not get the chance to do it so I could not be happier to get to do it today!
On his tropical "Nonstop" video
Just a fun little video, you know? I wanted the song to remain the center of the attention for whoever who is listening or streaming. I wanted something that would complement it without taking away that punch and power that makes it so special. So that is what we came up which! I am very happy with how it came out and I feel like it is exactly what I had envisioned while making the song.
Drake performs "Nonstop"
After being introduced by Andy, the camera cut to the stage, to reveal Drake standing in the center of it with two female dancers standing beside him. They all wore red outfits, Drake's being a NIKE tracksuit. When the beat to the song started playing, the three started moving around each other. As Drake performed the lyrics, the dancers alternated between choreography and engaging with him. Drake also made sure to look at the audience and camera a few times. When the performance ended, Andy reminded everyone that "Nonstop" is out now everywhere.

- Drake on becoming a global rap sensation at a young age
I think it is a different experience for every person. For me personally it was conflicting, I knew I wanted to make it big and become the biggest rapper alive but I also did not want to let go of some of the things that I had in my life when I was not famous. It was surely something I had to come to terms with. But overall, at least for me, I would say the good outweighs the bad. It is all about finding the spot you feel most comfortable in.
Drake on his latest hit "Nonstop"
It is the first song I have released since 2015. But to be honest with you, it feels like I never left. The support I have been getting has been just as huge, if not more, than the one I received years ago. I can not believe my fans are still there and continue to support and have my back with every release I put out. For this song, I am particularly happy to see it doing how it is because it is one of the most special records I have ever done. There is just something about it that makes it feel special for me.
Drake on not conforming to the standards of rap
I have always been a fan of records and albums so I find it hard to not center my music and career around them. But I think everyone has their own thing and their own work ethic, and whatever works for them, that is fine! For me music is about diversity in all its ways, and that includes different types of releases and rollouts. As I see it, we are lucky to live in a time where labels no longer care that much about whether someone releases singles on singles or does a proper album rollout.

- Interview:
- On August 7th, Dua Lipa did a phone interview with "Ocean FM" to talk about her single "Don't Start Now", her UK fans, being in UK and her upcoming plans. "You visited your home country last week. Sad to see you leaving. How was reuniting with your British fans? How was being here after some time?"
"I realized that i missed my home. I mean this is where i was raised most of my life and i got to visit my neighborhood. Reached out to some of my old neighbors. Like you said, i also met some fans. It was so much fun talking with my British Loves about my new song, i may have spilled some tea about the album or upcoming surprises though. Let me tell y'all about that."
"That's nice to hear. Let's talk about your new song for a moment then. "Don't Start Now" is an incredible song, let me tell you that. I just can't stop jamming along to it. The chorus, the breakdown, the pre-chorus. Love everything about it. How do you feel about having this song out?"
"I remember screaming "FINALLLYYYYYYY" when i saw the song was released on all streaming platforms. It was a huge relief knowing that i'm allowed to share this song with the whole wide world now and people are going to hear this and share their thoughts about it. Well if you ask me, i was expecting this song to get positive comments from fans mostly and i got what i wanted. I gotta thank my Loves for supporting this track and i can't wait to drop the album when it's ready."

- On August 8th, Dua Lipa appeared on "WYYY 94 FM" to talk about her single "Don't Start Now" and upcoming surprises. "You are finally back. You were missed so much. Thanks for saving music with your new song though. To start this interview, i must tell you listeners how great Dua's new song is. Great song choice there, Ms. Lipa."
"Well first of all, thanks for the love. Second, i'm going to have to agree with you on that. I have always felt like this could be the fire starter if you know what i mean. By the moment things were all said and done for this track, i thought that this would be the best option for "lead single material". And i think i made the right decision. I gotta thank my team for letting me select the lead too. Enjoy this bop, loves."
"What are you working on lately? Should we expect any new things in the near future? Related to the album? or your new song "Don't Start Now"?"
"To answer this question, i would love to start it off by reminding you and all the listeners that i love doing surprises. Like announcing things out of nowhere. And i got some good good plans this era. Surprise wise i mean. There might be some on the way. Some might be for my new single....some might be for my upcoming album. You guys are going to have to wait and see what happens. Ahh i just can't wait anyway- Let me just say it. There might be a couple surprises arriving that are single related in the near future. Soon. You will be the first to know, don't believe any rumors you see, hear or read online. Nothing is confirmed until i talk about it through my social media accounts, remember that."

- Interview:
- On August 9th, Dua Lipa appeared on "WWWM FM 105.5 Star 105" to talk about her single "Don't Start Now", collaborations and switching sounds. "Tell us about your new single."
"It's called "Don't Start Now" for those who don't know. And i would say that this song can be relatable to most of us. If you put on this song and pay attention to the lyrical content of it you will understand what i'm trying to say here. It's a lovely upbeat song that you jam along to anywhere.
"Can we expect a few collaborations from this album? Or for other artists remixes for their singles? We missed you doing those."
"Well you guys just recieved one that i have with the talented, Florence Welch. Just wanted to add my touch to her brilliant new song, "Only If For A Night" and it was nice working with her. Sending her love and congratulating her on her success by the way. I heard she hit #1. To answer your question in another way, i can say that there might be some ideas that i've been sharing with a few artists lately. We will see if those will see the light in the future."
"What made you shift your sound from tropical pop to disco pop?"
"I guess it was all about me not wanting to go with the flow anymore. If you listen to my debut you can see the production that some songs had having the elements that were popular back in 2017. I wanted to do things differently and you know...my way. I have always been open to trying new things and this was what i wanted. This disco sauced pop is what i'm bringing to the table this time. Perched for you all to hear the full project. Hope i'm making it work though."

[August 10 | 4th Free Radio | Iowa, US | 4/8]
- Interview:
- On August 10th, Dua Lipa appeared on "KZIA Z102.9" to talk about her single "Don't Start Now", working with known names in the industry for her upcoming album and writing. "Your new song is incredible. How would you describe your newest single?"
"It's basically a bop that has an emotional lyrical content that hides behind this "boppy" disco influenced pop production. It's perfect combination in my eyes and hope you guys can see the appeal. It's out everywhere."
"Who do you work with for your upcoming project? How is it working with them? Tell us about all we have to know."
"I work with Ian Kirkpatrick, who's the producer behind my newest single, "Don't Start Now". I work with SG Lewis who is such a close friend of mine, he's behind some great gems. I also work with Stuart Price who was behind Madonna's "Confessions on a Dancefloor". I'm working with such talented people as you can see. It has been so much fun working on this record and i can't wait for you guys to hear it."
"Do you write any songs for the album as well?"
"Of course. If you check into the credits for my debut album, you might see a familiar name popping up on nearly all the songs. Like i just said, i love doing and adding touches to things. It can be anything. Songs...work....music videos...choreos and such. Before fully going into the working process for my second album i wanted to make sure that i feel "improved" enough to contribute to songs more lyrical wise. Since i'm going to be the owner of the work i have, i would love to be a huge part of it. So for this album, i guess i can say that i contributed to writing many songs. You will see it once the tracklist and everything is finalized."

- On August 11th, Dua Lipa appeared on "KKPL 99.9 FM The Point" to talk about her single "Don't Start Now", the single growing on the charts and being back to promoting after a year. "This song you dropped is crazy. We love playing the song in here all the time. Can you tell us about it a little?"
"Of course i can. "Don't Start Now" is the first taste you guys are getting from this upcoming "big" project that i have been working for some time now and this song was like one of the first songs that made to the album. One of the first songs that quite set the tone for the album i would say. It's an upbeat, disco flavoured pop bop that you guys can love and jam along to. Play it and you will love it. It's out now!"
"Also, congrats on the song growing on the charts. It's gaining so much lately. How do you feel about it?"
"I guess people are finally discovering this gem. Glad about it though, not going to lie. This song is perfect to me that it deserves all the success because of its beautiful melody and fun lyrics. It's addictive. It can be relatable for some too so it's kind of normal for me to see people getting connected with this jam. Enjoy this track everyone!"

Re: CAL: Season 1
[August 12 | Paid Internet Promo | US | 6/8]
- Game:
- On August 12th, ELLE uploaded a video on their official YouTube channel for Song Association. For this episode, the guest is the one and only, Dua Lipa.
"Hey everyone, Dua Lipa here. I'm here with ELLE to play a game called "Song Association". The rules of the game are simple. I will be given a word and i'm going to have to use the word in a song in 10 seconds. I think i'm going to do good on this. Let's start, shall we?"
WORD #1 - "SWEET"
"Oh, she's sweet but a psycho. A little bit psycho. At night she's screamin', "I'm-ma-ma-ma out my mind". Oh, she's hot but a psycho. So left but she's right though. At night she's screamin', "I'm-ma-ma-ma out my miiiind. A sweet bop, i would say. That was "Sweet but Psycho" by Ava Max." @ACT2
WORD #2 - "HULA"
"Now what the hell is... um... *2 seconds left* WAIT. When i hula hula, hula. So good, you'll take me to the jeweler-jeweler, jeweler. There's pink and purple in the sky,I. We're ridin' Harleys in Hawaii, iiiiii. I don't know how did i do it but anyway, that was "Harleys in Hawaii" by Katy Perry. Such a casual jam. Love it." @Breakdown
WORD #3 - "DIE"
"Oh my, my, my. I die every night with you. Oh my, my, my. Living for your every move. Love this jam and can't wait to hear his upcoming album. Love to see him killing it! That was "MY MY MY!" by Shawn Mendes." @jackgrande
WORD #4 - "HEAT"
"Sounds like there are some crickets in here cause that doesn't remind me of anything. *laughs* *pauses for a couple secs* Nope, nothing comes to mind. Sorry to those who have songs that include this word."
WORD #5 - "DO"
"What did you dooooo? oooooh. Sticky stick off the ground. Slipping till you let me drown. LOVE this song. It's "Sticky" by Victoria Monét. @TattooedHeart
WORD #6 - "LOVE"
"I LOVE MEEEHHHH! Gotta love myself, no i don't need anybody else. HEY! It's such an uplifting track. So meaningful. You guys should go check out her album too. This is "Love Myself" by Hailee Steinfeld." @Jonnyy
WORD #7 - "NIGHT"
"Oh..i know this one. And I heard your voice. As clear as day.. And you told me I should concentrate. It was all so strange. And so surreal. That a ghost should be so practical. Only if for a night... "Only If For A Night" by Florence Welch and yours truly. Thanks Florence for having me on this great song. @dweebz
WORD #8 - "NEEDY"
"Gosh i really don't know what should i sing. That doesn't remind me of anything literally. Am i getting bad? Oop.."
WORD #9 - "DOWNHILL"
"... Nope. Nothing. I got nothing. *time stops* Well, that was expected. Wasn't it? Hope i get the last one."
WORD #10 - "START"
"*looks at the camera, pauses* *laughs* WELL. Don't show up. Don't come out. Don't start caring a-bout me now. Walk away....you know how. Don't start caring a-bout me now. This was "Don't Start Now" by Dua Lipa. You're welcome for this lyrical masterpiece *giggles* This is my new single and it's out everywhere."

Re: CAL: Season 1
[August 12 | 6th Free Radio | Nevada, US | 7/8]
- Interview:
- On August 12th, Dua Lipa appeared on "KWYL Wild 102.9" to talk about her single "Don't Start Now", working with Ian Kirkpatrick and getting into a new record label. "I want to ask you...how did the transition between the record labels happen? And how is it going with your new team now? Are you happy with this decision?"
"I most certainly am. With my previous label, it took me so much time to have my own power and get to the point that led me hit the top spot in my career. As soon as i was at that point i became exhausted. All those promotions, the tour too. And there were so many misunderstandings going on between me and them which led me to get myself out of that environment and start searching for a new home. I'm with Desperado Records now and they have been taking care of me well since i got signed."
"It seems like it. Your first project with them is out. How does it feel?"
"Feels so exciting. It feels like i'm starting this journey again. Feels like... i'm dropping my very first single. So glad that i started this brand new era with this song. For those who don't know the song is called "Don't Start Now" by the way. It's the disco influenced pop song you need for this summer and i hope you like it."
"We gotta thank the producer behind this track for blessing our ears."
"My thoughts exactly. Ian (Kirkpatrick) and i met during the Grammys like last year and since then we have always been in touch. After all those studio meetings and texting vocal files to each other, we came to this point where i can say that i have a good album in my hands. He helped on this project so much and you will agree with me once the album is out. Much love to him."

Re: CAL: Season 1
[August 13 | Paid | California, US | 8/8]
- Interview:
- On August 13th, Dua Lipa appeared on The Talk to talk about her single "Don't Start Now", her upcoming second album and a possible tour in the future. "What is Dua Lipa up to this year? After your a year hiatus i think we really would like to know..."
"I took as much time as needed for my physical and mental health after that overwhelming schedule i had for my debut album rollout. I felt like i was being overworked and things were getting too much to me so i had to stop at some point. I rested, re-gained my strength, bettered myself at things that i'm good at for the next chapter and left my previous record label as many of you know. I'm here now. My new single "Don't Start Now" is out now, the second album is on the way and there are so many surprises on the way!"
"Can you give us any examples for those "surprises"?"
"I think i can tell you guys that i'm coming back to tour for my upcoming album. I'm going to tour the United States again soon but i'm going through a process with my new team before we actually start working on the tour. You will be the first to know once new updates happen."
"Before you leave i just want to tell you that your song is amazing. Been playing it since you dropped it and i just can't stop... How did you do that?"
"Ask the producer that question i would say. He really came up with the best melody possible and as soon as this track was completed, i fell in love with it. Glad to see my Loves thinking the same way as i do."

Victoria Monet x MusicBank
KOR Paid
Friday, August 7th
Victoria begins the performance in the middle of the stage. She is wearing a navy blue silk pantsuit while the dancers surrounding her in a circle are wearing matching navy blue outfits as well. When she moves the entire circle formation or dancers moves with her. For the intro of the song she stands completely still with the spotlight shining on her. Then, for the first verse all the lights go on and the dancers break the formation and begin dancing. Victoria moves to the left while the dancers move to the right and they do the iconic sticky choreography on each side of the stage. They repeat similar formations for the second and third act of the song. They finish together in the middle of the stage posing. She blows a kiss to the audience and thanks them for having her. The interviewer reminds them that sticky is out now alongside its remix on iTunes and flux.

Saturday, August 8th
Victoria Monet drops by the Knowing Bros for their iconic video interviews and to perform an acoustic version of sticky with the set as well.
The video starts with the interviewers doing the intro to the show which consists of them bantering amongst themselves and joking around before proceeding to introduce the star for that episode. They finally introduce Victoria as she walks out into the set smiling and waving at each of them. She reintroduces herself and they discuss changes that have occurred since the last time she was on the show. Namely, the monster success of her song Sticky which was a MUCH smaller hit the last time she was on the show vs how it is now.
Victoria on the success of Sticky
I really did not expect the song to do that well! I didn’t have any specific expectations but I had a small hope of just charting on the hot 100. THus, you can imagine my SHOCK and dismay when I hit #1 in lots of countries around the world and top 3 in many others like here in South Korea. I don’t remember exactly where Sticky was last time I was on the show but it's definitely a lot lower than it is now! It feels good to know so many people enjoy the music I am putting out!
The show cuts to commercial before Victoria comes back now sitting with the interviewers to perform an acoustic version of sticky. It isn’t a super serious performance but rather one where she laughs with the hosts while she sings the song.
