Host: Here with me now is a young Latina pop singer who is surely going to be the next big thing, with the release of her debut single “She Loves Control”. Give it up for Camila Cabello!
Audience claps as the camera pans to Camila who is already sitting down on the couch next to the host’s desk.
Camila: Thank you, thank you! (she tells the clapping audience) Hi Señorita Giménez!
Host: Camila, just call me Susana!
Camila: My apologies señ-- I mean Susana! (laughs)
Host: I’m so happy that you’re here, but we don’t have a lot of time for this interview, so let’s dive right into it!
Camila: I’m ready!
Host: Firstly, “She Love Control” is already one of my favourite songs ever! I usually don’t listen to a lot of American pop, but you got me!
Camila: Well, firstly thank you, I’m so happy that you love it! Secondly, it just makes me smile that you decided to step out of your usual, I guess you can say music comfort zone to enjoy “She Loves Control”. One of the things I want to do most as an artist is to create music that transcends barriers. Whether it’s genre barriers or language ones!
Host: Ah yes, language barriers are often very hard to overcome. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you are fluent in Spanish?
Camila: Si!
Host: So have you decided to only do English music then?
Camila: Not at all. That question right there is one issue that a lot of us bilingual artists have an issue with. However, I understand that you mean no disrespect (laughs).
Host: I don’t!
Camila: The thing is, and I’ll speak from my experience as a Cuban and Mexican-American singer, we are put in a box. Are we going to target Latin America, or are we going to target America? It’s like we can’t do both. In reality, I embrace both Latino and American culture, so why can’t my music do it too? That’s why I’m making a real effort to have my music show both sides of me. “She Loves Control” is a part of that. Yes, the song is in English, but it is heavily supported by a Latin-flair guitar.
Host: Ahh yes, that guitar… it makes the song in my opinion! But what you said is so true. I’m glad that you are standing up for yourself as a musician. Now, one more question that I know your fans are dying to know: When are we getting a “She Loves Control” music video?
Camila: When it’s ready! (laughs) I’m a very visual person. When I write a song, I can vividly picture a movie to go along with my lyrics. So I do have a concept of how I want the video to look like, but I haven’t gotten around to seriously planning it, let alone filming. Can you blame me? I was just in the US, now I’m here in Latin America for the week, then in the UK next week! A girl is busy! (laughs)
Host: I certainly can’t blame you, especially as I know how much work you’ve been putting into your performances. Speaking of which, stay tuned, as when we come back, Camila will be performing “She Loves Control” live!

Host: Welcome back! Now for the moment we’ve all been waiting for, it’s Camila Cabello performing “She Loves Control”!

As the camera pans away from Susana, the opening instrumental to “She Loves Control” begins to play. White lights flash across the stage to the beat of the song. A spotlight shines down on the right of the stage, revealing Camila to be standing there. She raises her microphone and begins to sing. Her outfit is a simple summer dress, endowed with the signature Versace print. Throughout the first verse, Camila walks across the stage as she sultry sings. At the chorus, she does a light dance routine by herself as for this performance she has no background dancers. The stage lights flash periodically as the instrumental breakdown plays. At the final moments of the song, a sole light shines on Camila as she sings the last line and strikes a pose. The audience erupts in applause and Susana comes to join her on stage.

Host: Performing her debut single “She Loves Control”, it’s Camila Cabello!

As the camera pans to the stage, a simple guitar is heard being played. An old man is seen sitting down, playing the guitar. The opening instrumental to “She Loves Control” can be recognized as the melody he is playing. Slowly, Camila Cabello appears behind him. The old man stops playing, and Camila bends over to give him a kiss on the cheek. After she does, the man begins to play again, only this time the instrumental to the first verse, and the camera follows Camila as she walks across the stage singing. Arriving at the center of the stage right as the chorus is about to begin, the soft guitar instrumental gets replaced with the vibrant official instrumental to the song. Three female background dancers join Camila as they dance to the chorus. Camila and the dancers perform the second verse of the song as they move to the right of the stage. Again at the chorus, they perform the dance routine. The song reaches a climax at the final chorus, where Camila returns to the center stage and goes hard at the choreography, while impressively still hitting every note. The performance ends with the simple guitar sound returning as the final instrumental, and Camila harmonizing the final lyrics. The camera pans back to the host who is standing around a cheering audience.

Host: Here to perform her single “She Loves Control”, along with some of our very special little friends, please welcome Camila Cabello!

Camila stands in the dead center of the stage. She slowly raises her head to the opening instrumental of the song, then begins to sing the first verse. Her outfit is a well-fitted white dress, which still allows her to dance, along with a black corset on top. At the chorus of the song, the tall screen behind her displays shadow figures who perform, in sync, the same dance routine that Camila does. Right as the chorus ends and the second verse is about to start, the camera pans away from Camila and to the left of the stage. There, a young little girl, who is a contestant on The Voice Kids Colombia stands and sings the first line of the verse. For each line of the second verse, the camera flips to a new young female contestant of the show who joins the performance on stage. In total, 6 little girls joined the performance. At the chorus, the 6 little girls meet Camila at the center stage and perform a simplified dance routine. With the bridge of the song arriving, the camera focuses back on Camila who sings it surrounded by the little girls, who all have big smiles on their faces. To end the performance, Camila and the little girls walk across the stage runway towards the audience, clapping their hands and all singing the final chorus. Once the song ends, Camila gathers all the girls for a group hug as confetti falls and they yell “CONTROL, HEY!”.

Camila: Hello! Hello! Hello! LA!
Host: We’re so happy to have you here in the studio today Camila!
Camila: Are you kidding? I’m the happy one! You guys are literally a part of my daily routine in the morning!
Host: That’s wonderful and funny to hear, as you’ve become part of our daily routine here. We jam out to “She Loves Control” every morning before starting the show!
Camila: Awh, thanks! That means a lot!
Host: So how are you? I can see you’re really enjoying the cup of coffee!
Camila: Oh I am! Things have been so hectic lately but in the best way possible. I just got back from South America, and I’m only here in LA for two and a half days! Late Friday night I’m hopping back on a plane, going to the UK!
Host: Oh wow, you must be exhausted!
Camila: You don’t even know… but honestly, I love it. There’s nothing quite like travelling the world and getting to meet a bunch of my lovely fans! Plus, it’s an appropriate excuse to be drinking Starbucks lattes 24/7, which I am OBSESSED with! (laughs)
Host: Wow, so you must never have any free time?
Camila: Oh no, I definitely do! Don’t worry, I won’t go insane! (laughs)
Host: So what do you do during your free time then?
Camila: Well, when I’m not in rehearsals for performances, I’m usually busy working at the studio!
Host: Camila… we said free time! Stuff you do outside of the regular tasks required for an international pop star!
Camila: Oh.. well I swear I love being in the studio so much that it doesn’t even feel like work! (laughs) But in my actual free time, I binge-watch movies and TV. Right now I’m like OBSESSED with Desperate Housewives! It’s so freaking addictive!
Host: Good choice! So you don’t go to any elite Hollywood parties?
Camila: I’m an introvert baby! I love keeping myself company by ordering pizza and binging Netflix. That’s my idea of the perfect Friday night! (laughs) But wait, I think I’m actually attending Hailee Steinfeld’s album release party tonight! So I guess that’ll be my first, and only, elite Hollywood party of 2020!
Host: Oh, we just love Hailee here! I cannot wait to listen to her album.
Camila: So do I! I met her for the first time like 4 days ago in Argentina, we were doing promotion at the same show, and she is just so so sweet! We really hit it off and she personally invited me to the party. I couldn’t say no!
Host: Could you maybe…. bring me?
Camila: Hmmmm… let me text Hailee after this interview and ask! (laughs)
Host: Well, until then, what do you have planned up next in your career? I know you just started, but I’m sure an intelligent woman like you is already thinking of the future!
Camila: (laughs) Oh trust me, I am. But for now, I plan on continuing to promote “She Loves Control” for the next couple of months. I love the song so much, and really want to maximize its potential in every area. When it’s time to announce other things, you guys can expect to hear it first, from me!
Host: You better keep your word Camila!
Camila: I will!
Host: Well, it’s been awesome having you here today. But before you go, we would love it if you can introduce your song to our listeners…
Camila: I’d love that! How do I do it!

Host: Performing “She Loves Control”, give a warm Conan Show welcome to Camila Cabello!

Red and yellow lights flash across the stage as the instrumental to the song begins to play. On stage are three women. The two women, respectively on the left and right of the middle women, turn around and reveal to be background dancers. Right when the song is about to start, the middle woman turns around and is revealed to be Camila. She is wearing a simple white blouse tucked into black pants, along with ripped black gloves on her hands. She steps forward and begins to sing. As she sings the first verse, the background dancers dance next to her as she stands still. Moving into the chorus, Camila slowly sways side to side, but does not join in to the routine that the dancers are doing. Moving to the right, Camila slowly walks as she continues to sing the song’s second verse. The background dancers join Camila at the right and dance as she remains still singing the chorus. Eventually at the instrumental breakdown of the song, Camila joins the dancers in a dance routine. Her body is loose as she correctly hits all of the steps and lets the backing track play. Standing up straight to sing the finale of the song, Camila stares into the camera and smiles as she finishes the lyric. She proceeds to embrace the background dancers, and Conan joins them back on stage.
